Holiday Party
We held
our annual Holiday Party with Pickwick Beach Association in our clubhouse
on Malba Drive on December 12th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This
was the second annual holiday party held by our two communities, part
of our continuing efforts to promote the "Know Your Neighbors"
theme started with Pickwick more than a year ago. Liz Petrilak, Kim
Picciotti (SBPOA) and Ann Marie Schmidt (PBA) coordinated the efforts
between the two groups and made the event a memorable occasion.
Santa, arriving from the north, was observed by the excited children
through the clubhouse windows as he approached the clubhouse with
the gifts that he would soon distribute. He came in and individually
welcomed the children, making his way around the hall through the
tables of energized happy children, adult children and grand-adult
children. Santa made his way to his chair, positioned next to the
Christmas tree, sat down and rested for a few moments, than handed
out presents to the children, some in awe, others not knowing what
to make of this jolly old soul. Each child had his/her picture taken
with Santa as he handed them a present he had brought to Sound Beach
from the North Pole. Santa was overheard asking the children if they
would continue to be good until the 25th and thereafter; all answering
him with a very positive 'yes' response.
The party
was well attended by children from both communities, who came with
their parents and grandparents. There were cookies and juice for them
to enjoy while they made picture frames in anticipation of Santa's
arrival. Thanks to Donna Eberspacher and Harry Paul, the picture with
Santa was taken and copy presented to each child during the party,
so they could mount it in the picture frame they had constructed while
waiting for Santa to arrive.
The party concluded with a performance by Pink Silk, a group of Pickwick
young ladies that have become very popular local entertainers. Those
that had attended out 75th Anniversary celebration of Sound Beach
were also entertained by the group, supported and heralded by Ann
Marie Schmidt of the Pickwick Beach Club.

Plans
are in development for our third annual holiday party in 2005.
